An effective program will address these five components by including the following... Thinking Skills: Games, puzzles and construction toys. Creative Activities and Imaginary Play: Extensive and varied opportunities to engage in creative activities. Indoor & Outdoor Play: Structured and informal play using interesting age appropriate apparatus on a rotation system. Language & Listening Skills: Stories, listening activities and conversation. Supervised Homework: Liaison with the HOD foundation phase and grade leaders is essential Homework time allocation: 1 hour The homework hour is fixed A classroom environment is provided (Maximum of 25 children per class) Play Areas: Fantasy Room: Free indoor play Skill Room: Free structured play indoors. Puzzles, cognitive games, book corner, educational toys. Creative / Technology Room (indoor / outdoor): Creative activities, Science / Technology. Structured Outdoor activities with apparatus. Informal Outdoor Play Area: Jungle gym, sandpit with toys, water play, outdoor toys. Language & Listening Skills: The language half hour is fixed Rules... continued No sharp or dangerous objects that may cause injury are allowed. A pupil may be suspended due to constant disruption and misbehaviour within the school environment. Parents will be requested to replace any school property deliberately damaged by a child. The school cannot be held liable for any toys/articles brought to school. No child will be handed over to a stranger. Children are to be collected from after-care by parents. No older brother or sister is allowed to fetch unless the after-care supervisor has been informed by the parents. No child will be handed over to a stranger. If you are delayed in fetching your child, please inform the after-care supervisor, Teacher Stella (012-361 5337).
